Johnson Confirms 5 Who Will Miss AmaZulu Game

Kaizer Chiefs interim coach Cavin Johnson has confirmed that five players will be unavailable for this evening’s DStv Premiership fixture against AmaZulu.

The Amakhosi take on Usuthu at the Moses Mabhida Stadium this evening, with a place in the top eight possibly at stake.

Chiefs are currently 9th, while AmaZulu are two points behind in 12th spot. Polokwane City moved into the eighth position after their draw on Saturday, and are one point ahead of Chiefs.

Johnson is feeling positive though admits they will miss Edmilson Dove and Given Msimango, who are both suspended, as well as the injured pair of Dillon Solomons and Reeve Frosler.

“Overall, we have trained well,” Johnson told the club’s media department.

“The boys are looking positive. We have had a few setbacks in defence due to suspensions for Dove and Given, plus injuries to Dillon Solomons and Reeve Frosler from the game against TS Galaxy.”

Brandon Petersen is also suspended after he was shown a red card on the bench.

“But, we are Kaizer Chiefs and we can’t use that as an excuse,” he continued.

“The players who will come in are always ready to play and do a job against AmaZulu.

“We have noted how they play generally, although that can change. They usually play a high line and go with a lone striker and overlapping fullbacks. They have good players who can operate between the lines, but we have worked on our own ways of causing them problems.

Johnson also said he hoped to see a lot of supporters at the stadium as they appreciate their backing.

“We really appreciate their support and hope to see lots of them at Moses Mabhida Stadium,” Johnson said.

“We still have the ambition to finish as high as possible on the log so their amazing support is vital to helping us get the full nine points from our three remaining games.”
