Kaizer Chiefs interim coach Cavin Johnson has explained why Keagan Dolly was taken off at half-time in Saturday’s Soweto Derby.
Dolly, 30, came into the derby with four wins against Orlando Pirates, but suffered his first defeat after the Buccaneers beat Amakhosi 1-0 at FNB Stadium.
The winger, though, was taken off at half-time with many left wondering why he was replaced by Pule Mmodi at the break.
After the match, Johnson explained that it was because he suffered an injury.
“Keagan is a 100% fit but at the same time he’s also still coming back,” Johnson said after the match.
“He’s 100% fit but today he got injured, he came off the pitch, he got substituted because he got hurt.
“He’s got hurt on his ankle and we had to take him off at half-time.
“But he’s getting there and hopefully by the next window, when it’s closed, it’s now FIFA, he’ll be 140%.”
