Johnson – We Have To Be A Lot More Calmer

Speaking after their 2-1 loss to Golden Arrows, Kaizer Chiefs interim coach Cavin Johnson says the players need to be calmer, but it’s something they will work on.

Johnson was in charge for the first time after Molefi Ntseki’s dismissal earlier in the week.

Knox Mutizwa scored a brace on either side of S’fiso Hlanti’s goal, but Chiefs had a lot of opportunities in the game.

Johnson said Chiefs need to be calmer, but say that anxiety is there because of their run of results, and they will need to work on that with the players.

“I think we have to be a lot more calmer,” Johnson told SuperSport after the game.

“Because of the results we’ve been getting in the last three, four, five games, we all seem to be a lot more anxious, especially when we are closer to the opponent’s goals.

“So that creates a lot of tension within yourself and that mental calmness we have to work on that I think.”

Johnson said he has no mandate from the club, other than to play the ‘Chiefs way’.

“Play the Chiefs way and the results will come,” Johson replied.

“There’s no expectations.

“I think we have a team that can that can compete. But it’s a team, like most teams, when you go through a bad patch, you’ve got to mentally come out of that. And that’s where we are now at the moment.”
