Kekana Questions Scheduling PSL Game Between CAFCL Semis

While Mamelodi Sundowns were victorious on Tuesday in their DStv Premiership fixture against Sekhukhune United, former captain Hlompho Kekana believes that fixture should’ve been postponed.

Sundowns won 2-1 with a fully-rotated team from the side that participated in the first leg of the CAF Champions semi-finals on Saturday.

Speaking to iDiski Times, Kekana felt that Tuesday’s game was a bit too much after the intensity of the Espérance Sportive de Tunis match, and considering all the travel.

“To be honest, if you look at the fixture for me that was too close to play a match after that intense match and after travelling,” Kekana told iDiski Times.

“For me, I think the club could have at least asked for that breather inbetween the matches.

“Because it was gonna be a difficult match like you saw, simply because of the travelling.

“And of course, we can’t talk about training for them because this time of the year I think they don’t even have one training session.”

Sundowns’ heavy schedule is set to continue and after Friday’s second leg, they are set to play two midweek league fixtures before the Nedbank Cup semi-final on the weekend, which will mean playing four games in nine days.
