Khanye – Rulani Tactically Outsmarted Zwane

Former Kaizer Chiefs winger Junior Khanye has insisted that Rulani Mokwena “tactically outsmarted” Arthur Zwane in their clash, with the latter picking the wrong midfield options.

Masandawana beat Chiefs 1-0 on Saturday, despite being far from their best, as Mokwena highlighted after the match.

However, it was enough to keep their 12-match winning going and complete their first ever league double of Chiefs.

iDiskiTV analyst Khanye believes Zwane lost the tactical battle between the two young South African coaches and waited too long to make changes.

“Rulani Mokwena tactically outsmarted Arthur Zwane. He outclassed him with tactics,” Khanye said on iDiskiTV.

“Mamelodi Sundowns dominated ball possession against Kaizer Chiefs and they were comfortable in victory, as we expected.

“There was a mismatch again in the middle of the park with Chiefs opting for the inexperienced Samkelo Zwane, while Sundowns had classy players like Teboho Mokoena and Marcelo Allende.

“Arthur Zwane took too long to make substitutions in the game. Keagan Dolly was off. Nkosingiphile Ngcobo was off.

“These players should have been eliminated a long time ago by the coach in order to change the game in his favour.”

Khanye, though, also stated that Zwane did well to keep the confidence in his team after their previous two defeats but the third successive loss has now put him under huge pressure to change the club’s fortunes around.

“Kaizer Chiefs have lost three matches in a row. They face Royal AM next. I think Arthur Zwane is under immense pressure,” he added.

“I knew that Kaizer Chiefs players would come to this game high on confidence and encouraged because they needed to avoid a third loss, but confidence alone is not enough. Y

“You also need quality. Arthur Zwane is under serious pressure at the moment.”
