Martin Hits Out At Pirates

AmaZulu head coach Pablo Franco Martin has accused Orlando Pirates of being classless after not kicking the ball out and instead scoring when his side had a man down due to injury.

Martin, who was furious with the match officials after last week’s Nedbank Cup semi-final, insisted he can only laugh about how his team are being treated.

Usuthu lost 1-0 on Saturday after Tshegofatso Mabasa scored in the 75th minute, playing large parts with 10 man after Abubakar Mobara was sent off in the first half.

After the match, Martin insisted his side played very well despite being a man down, with Pirates only being able to score when AmaZulu “were down to nine players”.

“Today, I’m not going to be angry, today I’m going to laugh because this is a never-ending story,” he told SuperSport TV.

“But it’s a great feeling again to compete against this huge team in this amazing scenario, seeing again how they are celebrating like if they won the World Cup.

“Wasting time, only scoring when they were scoring against nine man. Because there was again lack of gentleman – when one player is on the ground, you’re playing with one man down and not kicking the ball out, but that happened also in the cup game.

“We took the ball out because one of their players was on the ground, they kick the ball for a goal kick and then press from there.

“You know, what are you can expect?

“I think we started the game in a great way, we hammer them. I think we had the chances to score, we hit the post, we play great football.

“Then again one unbelievable action, which is changing the whole game and harming us a lot. But from there, surprisingly we are controlling very well, had many chances, even in the second half until against nine, they took advantage and they score.

“We tried till the end, but this is what we can do when we play against everything and everyone every single day.”
