Masango – This Boy Can Carry Chiefs

Former Kaizer Chiefs winger Mandla Masango believes that Nkosingiphile “Mshini” Ngcobo has it in him to reach his full potential and to carry the club but that will take some doing from the midfielder.

Masango’s career at Chiefs was a slow burn in that he didn’t hit the ground running however he left the club having won five trophies that include two League titles, a Nedbank Cup, an MTN 8 trophy and a Carling Black Label Cup.

The 34-year-old went on to represent South Africa at U17, U20, U23 and senior levels while he enjoyed a short stint in Europe.

Mshini on the other hand was promoted from the Amakhosi development ranks six years ago and is yet to win anything in Black and Gold.

Masango told iDiski Times Senior Writer Lorenz Köhler in the latest edition of the newspaper that Ngcobo has the attributes to be a star but needs some divine intervention to up his numbers in terms of assists and goals to help this course.

“I think it’s God’s timing. You know you can try and do extra training and do whatever you want but if it’s not your time, it’s not your time,” Masango told iDiski Times.

“But for him, I like him as a player, he is a very intelligent player and he’s got all the attributes to play for Bafana, to even carry Chiefs and to even go overseas. He needs to work a little bit more on his game and for him to do that he needs to get his numbers up”

“His assists and his goal-scoring ratios, you know, because if you play in that position, you get judged based on that. You need to score goals, you need to create goals for your partner, like a strike partner.”
