Mofokeng Opens Up On Special Lorch Bond

Orlando Pirates teenage sensation Relebohile Mofokeng has opened up on his special relationship with former teammate Thembinkosi Lorch, saying the duo are still in contact.

Mofokeng, 19, has become a regular starter under Jose Riveiro and his fine performances have even alerted Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos.

The skilful winger had a special bond with former teammate Lorch, who left Pirates to join Mamelodi Sundowns on Deadline Day in January.

“Yeah he’s a teammate, he’s a brother, he’s a father, yeah he’s everything to me and that’s why when I need something or I need someone to talk to, I text him. He is always there for me,” Mofokeng told iDiski Times‘ senior journalist Velile Mnyandu in an exclusive interview.

Despite their special bond, Mofokeng has somewhat benefitted from Lorch’s departure and he insisted it was difficult to see ‘Nyoso’ switch clubs.

“No, it was not a difficult thing because people will go,” he added.

“Even if he hadn’t gone now, there would be a time when he retires and stuff like that.

“So you just have to adapt with the time and just keep on going and check on him sometimes and just keep on going.”
