Orlando Pirates defender Thabiso Monyane explained what South Africans should expect from the Angolan international Gilberto.
The 23-year-old recently joined Pirates from Angolan giants Petro de Luanda on a three-year deal. The exciting winger was with the Buccaneers on their pre-season tour of Spain, even getting his name on the scoresheet in their 1-1 draw against Granada.
When asked about his new teammate who spots blonde hair, Monyane stated that the Sea Robbers supporters should be happy because Gilberto is an exciting player that will bring joy to the faithful supporters.
“Gilberto is quite an exciting player I can say very skillful, very quick all I can say to the Buccaneers is that it’s gonna be an exciting season,” Monyane told the media.
“Happy people once again should be happy and they should expect very exciting team I can say that.”
Having played CAF Champions League in the past two seasons with Petro, and then featuring in the 2023 AFCON, Gilberto is expected to add to the Pirates team with his experience.
“Definitely, I mean he has been there, he played there he has a bit of experience ahead of some other guys, so its gonna help us a lot also the senior players are gonna push us and we really looking forward as a team to that,” Monyane concluded.
The Buccaneers are back in Mzansi after their pre-season in Spain where they played four matches, recording a single win, two draws and losing one, as they gear up for a jam-packed 2024/25 schedule.
