New SuperSport Talent Elated After First Goal

SuperSport United youngster Bilal Baloyi has expressed his delight after scoring his first professional goal for the club.

The 20-year-old who graduated to the club’s first team this season netted in the 2-0 win over Moroka Swallows as he begins to cement his place in Gavin Hunt‘s squad.

He follows on from the likes of Ime Okon, Shandre Campbell and Thapelo Maseko who have stamped their mark quickly after starring in the DStv Diski Challenge for SuperSport.

“I’m happy to have scored my first goal, we’re in a difficult situation competing for the top four, so I’m happy to have contributed to the team in any way,” Baloyi said.

“The preparations are going so well, I’m happy we’re coming off from a win so we’ll see on Saturday how well it’s going to go [against Pirates].

“I think I’ll give myself an eight or seven because it hasn’t been easy to get into the first team, I’ve had to work hard from the start of the season because I wasn’t playing.

“So for me, it’s a great achievement to end the season in the starting eleven, because I was mostly on the bench – so it’s one step at a time for me, I’m happy I’m starting and contributing.

“It’s a different level from the DDC, so it’s shown me a lot, I think I’m learning and in the right direction. I have to now maintain my position, keep improving so I can help the team next season qualify for CAF and maybe win a trophy.”

Baloyi has featured 15 times across all competitions for the Matsatsantsa first team this season featuring alongside Okon, Siyanda Xulu and Thulani Hlatshwayo in the central defensive area.
