Ntseki Confirms Chiefs Captains

Kaizer Chiefs head coach Molefi Ntseki has confirmed that Itumeleng Khune and Keagan Dolly will remain his captain and vice-captain this season.

Khune, 36, has been the club’s first-choice captain last season, but hasn’t always been on the pitch, leading to others getting the armband.

Dolly had been handed the armband in his absence, but he too was out towards the end with an injury, when Yusuf Maart was handed the armband.

Chiefs signed players who have been wearing the armband, with Given Msimango being captain of TS Galaxy, while Thatayaone Ditlhokwe is captaining his national team Botswana.

But Ntseki conformed that Khune and Dolly will remain the club’s captains, even though didn’t confirm who will replace them should both be sidelined.

“As of now, they are still our captains,” he said, when asked by iDiski Times.

“But like I’m saying we are looking forward to have more of our top players being the captains and leading the team on and off the field.”

Ntseki also insisted that it was one of the club’s targets to sign more players with leadership qualities on and off the pitch.

“We signed a couple of captains, we had captains in the team last season and this season we brought in some leadership in the team. We are looking forward to the new season,” he added.

“Because I think it’s more about the Kaizer Chiefs personality, it’s all about character on the pitch and off the pitch and we are looking forward to have a team that is driven by quality leadership.

“If you have to analyse and understand the pressure that comes with playing for Kaizer Chiefs you need characters, you need strong personalities and our recruitment came from that to say what type of players are we bringing to the club, what type of personalities are we bringing to the club?

“I think we are very happy in terms our recruitment of those individual players and in terms of those individual leaders.”
