Pirates & PLK City Starting XI Announced

Orlando Pirates and Polokwane City confirmed their starting lineups for this evening’s DStv Premiership encounter at Orlando Stadium.

Orlando Stadium might be the charm for the Buccaneers as they last won a league match there in August against Cape Town City. The sea robbers has been struggling having lost to Mamelodi Sundowns and played a goalless draw against AmaZulu FC.

Pirates will be desperate for maximum points, as while they have played fewer games, they languish close to the bottom of the table, after obtaining just eight points in six matches. Jose Riveiro’s side have little time as the matches will be coming thick and fast, and with them being behind on the schedule.

Meanwhile, High-flying City will aim to continue with their form as they’ve surprised a lot of people, collecting 14 points in nine matches. They also advanced to the next stage of the Carling Knockout.

Rise and Shine come into this game with their tails up after winning three and drawing two of their last five matches. Coach Lehlohonolo Seema will be hoping to rely on on-fire Oswin Appollis and Ndumiso Mabena to keep on lifting the team.

It has been some time since the two clubs last met when Pirates won 4-1 back in 2020 before Polokwane’s relegation. Pirates have bossed the historical head-to-head, with Polokwane’s last league win against Pirates coming 13 games ago, back in 2014.

Here is how they line up:

Pirates XI: Buthelezi, Xoki, Ndah, Monyane, Hotto, Baloni, Timm, Maswanganyi, Lorch, Kimvuidi, Makgopa

Subs: Mpontshane, Erasmus, Shandu, Saleng, Otladisa, Makaringe, Lepasa, Monare, Sibisi

Polokwane City XI: Sapunga, Matuludi, Ndlovu, Nikani, Nkaki, Kambala, Mashikinya, Mabena, Chauke, Ramabu, Appollis

Subs: Myataza, Baloyi, Fikizolo, Goovadia, Raphadu, Nkwe, Baloyi, Thuto, Van Heerden
