Pirates Suffer Double Blow Ahead Of Galaxy

Orlando Pirates have confirmed a double injury blow ahead of their game against TS Galaxy on Saturday.

The Buccaneers confirmed on Saturday morning that Tapelo Xoki will have to undergo surgery over a knee injury, while Miguel Timm is also ruled out of the Rockets game.

“Tapelo Xoki has been ruled out for the remaining matches of the 2024/25 season and will need to undergo surgery after suffering a knee injury during training earlier this week,” the club stated.

“Midfielder Miguel Timm is likely to miss today’s encounter as well after experiencing some discomfort in his knee.”

However, there were some good news, as Deon Hotto was cleared to play.

“Meanwhile, Deon Hotto has been cleared and is available for selection following nasal surgery. He is however required to wear a facial mask to protect his nose during this recovery phase,” the club added.

Meanwhile, assistant coach Mandla Ncikazi previews the game, saying the Buccaneers should win, if the players will bring their A game.

“TS Galaxy chooses matches and I’m sure against us the approach is going to be different a bit,” he explained.

“Although they are very competitive when they have the ball, very comfortable on the ball, very technical, but I think we can still overcome their strategy.

“At our best, it’s a game that we should win. It’s on our players whether they fulfil the objectives, fulfil the game plan.

“I think we have prepared well, we know what to expect from them. But three points is what is only required on Saturday, irrespective of what happens.”

Galaxy host Pirates at Mbombela Stadium at 15:00 on Saturday, with both still fighting for the CAF interclub spots.

Galaxy have 40 points from 27 games and sit two points behind fourth-placed Sekhukhune United, while Pirates have 49 points and are one behind Stellenbosch FC.
