PSL Announce Player & Coach Of The Month

The Premier Soccer League have announced Sinoxolo Kwayiba as Player of the Month, while Rulani Mokwena walked away with the Coach of the Month award in April.

Kwayiba, 24, came to live at Chippa, scoring four goals across four games in April.

He was on the scoresheet in 2-0 wins over Cape Town Spurs, Kaizer Chiefs and SuperSport as well as in the 2-1 defeat to AmaZulu.

Kwayiba emerged as the winner from a strong shortlist that also included Iqraam Rayners of Stellenbosch FC and the Orlando Pirates duo Tshegofatso Mabasa and Patrick Maswanganyi,” the PSL stated.

Meanwhile, Mokwena’s Sundowns collected four wins and one draw in their packed schedule – more domestic points than anyone else over the same period.

They beat Richards Bay and Cape Town Spurs 1-0, respectively before being held to a 2-2 draw by Moroka Swallows. They ended of April with a 2-1 win over Sekhukhune United a 3-0 over TS Galaxy.

Mokwena received the most votes ahead of Orlando Pirates coach Jose Rivieiro, Steve Barker of Stellenbosch FC and Chippa United co-coaches Kwanele Kopo and Thabo September, from the panel of experts during the judging process,” read the statement.

Meanwhile, Asekho Tiwani won the Goal of the Month award for his wondergoal from the half-way line in Sekhukhune United’s 1-0 win over Cape Town Spurs.

For their recognition, all the winning coaches and players will each receive a trophy and R7, 000 courtesy of league sponsors, DStv.
