Ranga Rates His First Chiefs Season

Kaizer Chiefs striker Ranga Chivaviro has admitted to have underperformed in his first season with Amakhosi.

Chivaviro joined Chiefs at the beginning of the recently-concluded DStv Premiership season, having had a stellar campaign with Marumo Gallants where he scored 17 goals in all competitions. Despite Gallants getting relegated to the Motsepe Foundation Championship, the 31-year-old had helped them reach the semi-finals of the CAF Confederation Cup, before leaving for greener pastures.

However, in his debut term in the traditional black and gold, he failed to replicate his previous goalscoring forms, netting just four goals in 20 league appearances as Chiefs endured their worst finish in the club’s history, finishing 10th with 36 points.

Chivaviro spoke to iDiski Times senior writer Velile Mnyandu in the latest edition of the newspaper (158), where he conceded that he didn’t live up to expectations, something he hopes to rectify next season.

“Personally, I have faced a couple of challenges,” Chivaviro told IDiski Times.

“I believe I have underachieved as much as there were challenges. But I’m a professional, and I know such things happen. I always work on the next day, and I do my best today, and hopefully, it’s enough.

“Personally, I believe I can do better, and I am going to do better coming to the next season.”
