Seema As Polokwane Host Sundowns: They Are Beating Everyone

Polokwane City coach Lehlohonolo Seema sounded like he feels his side will have no chance to get something from Mamelodi Sundowns, who they host at Peter Mokaba Stadium on Wednesday (17:30), saying the South Africa giants are beating everyone.

Sundowns is the only club to have won all their opening five league matches this season, sitting pretty at the top of the DStv Premiership with 15 points, having conceded just two goals in those games.

They have not suffered a loss in the league since September last year, which came against SuperSport United and coach Rulani Mokwena, since he assumed the post in October, the smell of the league loss he doesn’t know what it is like.

It appears that the winning streak of this season is likely to continue, as the Tshwane giants have defeated Polokwane City in four of their last five matches in all competitions.

“Let my players go and enjoy the game, we are not worried about [their sharpness],” said Seema, whose side were involved in a five-goal thriller with Golden Arrows over the weekend.

“Sundowns are beating everyone, why should I be worried? We are just going there, focusing on ourselves, fixing what we could have fixed against Golden Arrows on Saturday and continuing to the next one.”

Seema, in his coaching career as a head coach, has never been on the winning side against Sundowns during stints at Bloemfontein Celtic, Chippa United and Golden Arrows, respectively.

When Arrows fired him in April last year during the 2021/22 season, the Durban-based side was hammered 6-0, leading Abafana Bes’Thende boss Mato Madlala to take the next morning flight to board to Durban to inform him that he was fired.

He was replaced by Vusi Vilakazi and Mabhuti Khenyeza as co-coaches, who defeated him at Mpumalanga Stadium over the weekend.

City, in their return to the top flight, appeared to be acquitting themselves very well, with six points from four matches, lying fifth in the DStv Premiership table.
