Seema Unimpressed By Questions Over His Future After Just 1 Game

New Chippa United coach Lehlohonolo Seema was unimpressed after being asked whether he’ll still be in charge in the next game after his side lost 1-0 to Kaizer Chiefs at Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium on Thursday.

It was only Seema’s first game in charge after he replaced caretaker coach Siyabulela Gwambi, who too was given the caretaker role and had only two games after Kurt Lentjies was demoted to the DStv Diski Challenge team.

Gwambi lost both games, against Marumo Gallants and Sekhukhune United, with the latter being the Nedbank Cup quarter-finals, leading trigger-happy chairman Chippa Mpengesi to make his fourth coaching change of the season.

As a consequence, it doesn’t sound too far fetched that there could be another change on the sidelines at the Chilli Boys, but Seema was not impressed with the line of questioning.

“I don’t know, it’s a difficult one for me,” replied Seema, when asked if he will be in charge in the next games.

“But this is not part of the game. Talk about the game – if nothing to talk about the game, it’s fine. Let’s finish it [the press conference] on the positive point.

“Being negative, it’s not right for another human being to come here and ask [such a question].

“If I can put it to you [what will you say?]. There are things that you don’t do right but you don’t want to be asked that, you understand?”

However, Seema said they were signs of positivity displayed by his side, despite losing their fourth game on the trot at home against Chiefs.

“There are lots of positives that we can talk about,” added Seema.

“The fight was there. They were entries towards the box. I saw players playing without fear.

“When I got here last week, the spirit was not there. The spirit was there in this game and you could see it.”

Seema previously saved Chippa from a similar position in the 2020/21 season, though it was via the controversial playoffs that saw Royal AM not partake as they felt they had won the Motsepe Foundation Championship.

Whether Seema can do what he did then, remains to be seen as the Eastern Cape club lie 15th on the DStv Premiership table with 26 points after 27 matches. They have not won in eight league matches, dating back in January and changed coaches three times since.
