Sundowns’ First Opponent Confirmed

Mamelodi Sundowns‘ first opponent on their training camp in Austria has been confirmed, after Saudi Pro League champions Al Hilal announced they will face Masandawana.

The DStv Premiership champions are currently experiencing a major shake-up behind the scenes, with head coach Rulani Mokwena set to depart due to an alleged fallout with Sporting Director Flemming Berg.

Mokwena as well as his right-hand man Michael Loftman were not present as the team returned for pre-season.

Amid the tumultous time, Sundowns are set to travel to Austria for their pre-season camp and it has now been confirmed they will Al Hilal on July.

Jorge Jesus’ side completed an unbeaten treble in Saudi, winning Pro League, Cup and Super Cup after adding the likes of Kalidou Koulibaly, Aleksandar Mitrovic, Sergej Milinković-Savić, Ruben Neves and Neymar to their squad – even the though the latter suffered an ACL injury.

Of their 53 games under Jesus, Al Hilal have lost just one, winning an incredible 48 and drawing just four.
