Tinkler – Why Point Vs In-Form Sekhukhune Is Not Enough

Cape Town City coach Eric Tinkler feels his side has been their own worst enemy in the second half of the season and in their fight to finish second.

City are winless in six league outings but have been able to pick up four points in that period, including a 2-2 away at Sekhukhune United on Wednesday evening.

The Citizens have dropped to sixth place on the log with 33 points, one behind Orlando Pirates and SuperSport United in fourth and fifth, respectively, while Babina Noko have climbed into third.

Tinkler says the 2-2 result in Polokwane feels like a loss, considering that both sides are competing for a higher finish.

“I think it’s about us getting back, like I said to you I feel like this was three points lost today,” said Tinkler.

“This is a good team. Under normal circumstances I’d be sitting here and saying I’m happy with a draw because they are a good team, you understand.

“But our circumstances, we haven’t started well the second half of the season. So under those circumstances three points were important here today because that’s a team that’s competing for that second position like you.

“So for us to have come here and collected all three would have been a massive boost.”
