Sekhukhune United attacker Sibusiso Vilakazi has sent a message to his critics after scoring his first goal for the club.
Vila had six very successful years at Mamelodi Sundowns, winning nine trophies, including five Premier Soccer League title and the CAF Champions league and CAF Super Cup.
However, after the 2021/22 season, the 33-year-old left Downs because he was looking a new challenge and ended up joining TS Galaxy.
But things didnāt go well for him at the Rockets and he left the club after six months after head coach Sead Ramovic had criticised him over his lack of effort in training publicly.Ā
Early in March, Vila joined Sekhukhune United and has featured in four games since. The former Bidvest Wits captain scored his first goal for Babina Noko, which was also his first in two years, in a 1-0 win over Maritzburg United.
Vilakazi has now sent a message to his critics, saying he is motivated to prove that he hasn’t reached the end of his career yet.
“People had written me off, I wonāt say who, but people have written me off so had to… Iām going to the gym [and] Iāll show those people, you know what, as much as you think I’m wasted and as much as you think Iām out, we will see,ā Vilakazi told journalists.
“So for me it had to be a drive within [to say] that ‘I can show’.ā
