Who Should Be Coach Of The Season? Rulani Responds

Mamelodi Sundowns coach Rulani Mokwena believes that he deserves the Coach of the Season award after leading Masandwana to their seventh successive league title.

Mokwena’s Sundowns are two games away from an invincible campaign after reaching the 72 points mark, breaking the record that was set by Pitso Mosimane in the 2015/16 season.

Mokwena didn’t beat around the bush when he was asked who should be the Coach of the Season, he mentioned himself as the number one candidate but also applauded Stellenbosch coach Steve Barker and Orlando Pirates’ Jose Riveiro.

“The Coach of the Season would be me [Rulani Mokwena], that’s what I think. I think the Coach Of the season must be the coach that wins the league,” Mokwena told the media.

“But I can’t not give lots of compliments to the work that Stevie Barker has done. He deserves incredible applaudits for the work he has done at Stellenbosch.

“And many of my other colleagues, there’s been some very good work that’s been done, Jose Riveiro at Pirates has done some very good work.

“But without sounding arrogant, the Coach of the Season in my opinion would me for sure and I have no doubts about it.”
