Zwane On Mashiane Recall & Wasteful Chiefs

Kaizer Chiefs head coach Arthur Zwane says he is happy for Happy Mashiane to be back in the line-up for his side and addressed Amakhosi’s wastefulness.

Mashiane, 25, made his first start for the Glamour Boys since the 4-0 defeat to AmaZulu, helping his side to beat Chippa United 1-0 in Gqeberha on Thursday.

After the injury for Keagan Dolly, Zwane opted to field Mashiane in an unfamiliar left wing position, and the coach later stated he did “very well” in what was only his third start of the season.

“I’m happy for happy, I’m also happy for S’fiso [Hlanti] who came back from suspension,” Zwane told journalists.

“Happy has been out for some time, not playing regularly as well but due to injuries and other challenges.

“I’m happy he gave his best and he did very well. I think he will build on today’s performance going forward.”

Zwane’s men made life hard for themselves because they missed several chances at Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium on Freedom, and the coach insisted it has been the story of their saying, arguing they could have a completely different position on the log if they were more clinical.

“Look it’s the nature of the game, I don’t think there’s any player that wants to go onto the field and miss chances you know deliberately, they tried their best,” Zwane said.

“On another day, they will get it right and score more than two, three, or four, and it’s coming. the only thing we have to do as a technical team is keep on believing in them and encouraging them to do the right things.

“You must have seen this has been our disease, the story of our season, missing chances – it could have been a different story on the log, if we take maybe half the chances we created.

“But having said that I can’t falter the players effort, they did everything right it’s just that missing link of being clinical in front of goals.”

Chiefs return to action on Monday when they will host Swallows in a Soweto Derby at Peter Mokaba Stadium.
