Arsenal’s highly rated Sporting Director Edu is set to leave the club in a major blow to manager Mikel Arteta.
The former Gunners midfielder joined the Emirates Stadium outfit back in 2019 as technical director before earning promotion.
According to Daily Mail, there is a possibility that a reshuffle in responsibilities among the Arsenal hierarchy could have led to Edu’s imminent departure. The 46-year-old was instrumental in masterminding the change in Arsenal’s signing culture and played a key role in capturing key signings such as Martin Odegaard and Declan Rice.
The Brazilian played 217 times for the Gunners between 2001 and 2005 after being signed by Arsene Wenger and formed part of the Invincibles with the likes of Dennis Bergkamp, Patrick Vieira and Martin Keown.
Further details are expected to emerge within the next 24 hours ahead of Arsenal’s UEFA Champions League clash against AC Milan on Wednesday.
