Agent Gives Vilakazi Update After New Coach Claims

Renowned football agent Mike Makaab has dismissed claims suggesting that Richards Bay head coach Vusumuzi Vilakazi has been shown the exit door.

‘Kanu’ guided the Natal Rich Boyz to PSL safety via the PSL/promotional playoffs against Baroka FC and the University of Pretoria, going unbeaten in four matches in the mini-league to campaign in top-flight football for the third successive season ahead of 2024/25.

Rumours have been rife in the media of late that Vilakazi would not form part of the Bay technical team when the new campaign gets underway, something Makaab has poured cold water over.

“I don’t know where that comes from,” Makaab said on GagasiFM.

“Because I don’t think there is going to be a coaching change.

“Richards Bay issued a statement and they said clearly that whatever was said has been misconstrued and taken out of context.

“And that Kanu Vilakazi is the coach, and I can tell you that we’ve just concluded a new deal for him at Richards Bay.

“So, Kanu Vilakazi will be the head coach, there won’t be any changes there,” he added.

The latest developments at the club saw them securing Phakwe Group as their new main sponsor in an illustrious three-year deal said to be worth R60 million. They have also bolstered the squad with the addition of Siyethemba Sithebe among other signings.
