Amajita Crowned COSAFA Region 5 Youth Games Champions

South Africa’s U20 senior men’s team have been crowned COSAFA Region 5 Youth Games Champions after they hammered Malawi 3-0 in the final at UNAM Stadium in Windhoek, Namibia on Sunday afternoon.

Amajita were dominant from the get go and were on the scoresheet as early as the fourth minute through Njabulo Mzimela.

The second period was no different as the South Africans doubled their lead in the 66th minute with Simphiwe Mlondo making it 2-0.

In the 75th minute, it was game, set and match as Omphemetse Sekgoto added Amajita’s third to all but seal their dominant display of the afternoon.

Emile Witbooi walked away with the Player of the Match award after laying assists for all three goals in the final.

The South Africans also capped off what has already been an amazing two years as they won the COSAFA U20 Men’s Championship last year in Mozambique and recently also clinched the U20 AFCON title and qualified for the U20 FIFA World Cup.
