Bimenyimana Makes Saile Claim

Kaizer Chiefs top goalscorer Bonfils-Caleb Bimenyimana says hopes to be able to share the pitch with new striker Christian Saile Basomboli soon.

Bimenyimana started the season like a house on fire, netting six goals in the first five games and becoming a top goalscorer.

However, the goals have dried up for the Burundian international, who only managed to add one more goal in his last 10 appearances for the club.

In the race for the Lesley Manyathela Golden Boot, he sits two behind the league’s top goalscorer Peter Shalulile.

Bimenyimana now also needs to share game-time with Democratic Republic Of Congo striker Saile, who joined the club in January.

While Bimenyimana is yet to score in 2023, the new man has the hit the ground running as he assisted and scored in his first three games.

With Bimenyimana and Saile yet to feature at the same time, the Burundian hopes they’ll soon get a chance to play together.

“First of all Saile is a good player and I haven’t been lucky to be in the game with him but I hope that I’ll play with him,” he said.

“So anyone that I play with, for me is okay. There’s other quality players that we have in the team.”

Bimenyimana missed the first Derby of the season when the Amakhosi beat the Buccaneers 1-0 but Chiefs enter the game under pressure after collecting just of a potential 18 points in 2023.

However, the tall striker insists the players know what to do to turn their bad run of form around.

“There’s no big difference that I want to do, because as a team we know what we need to do and I won’t be playing alone,” he added.

“So we’ve got a plan. If we stick to it and the principles of the game, I think we have a good opportunity to turn things around.”
