Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos has commented on the absence of Nigerian star striker Victor Osimhen, addressing whether he considers it an advantage for his side.
The 26-year-old was injured and had to leave the Super Eagles’ last match against Rwanda in the 35th minute following a strong challenge with Claude Niyomugabo.
The Galatasaray centre-forward will miss the Bafana fixture after it was confirmed he suffered a bruised chin. He woke up on Sunday feeling discomfort, which ruled him out of the match.
Broos insists that Eric Chelle’s team is well-prepared for the former Napoli star’s absence, noting that they have plenty of other players who can take his place.
“We also have injuries and I think Osimhen is a very good striker,” said Broos during the pre-match press conference at Free State Stadium in Bloemfontein.
“But I think the coach has lots of options to replace him.”
The match between the two African giants will be played on Tuesday, September 8, at 18:00, taking place at the Free State Stadium.
