Cardoso Tips Bafana Striker To Play Before End Of The Season

Mamelodi Sundowns head coach Miguel Cardoso hopes new signing Lebo Mothiba is able to play before the end of the season.

With the season approaching the end, Sundowns aim to wrap up the Betway Premiership and shift the focus to the CAF Champions League, but to do that they need to win their games and possibly avoid injuries and suspensions.

Cardoso emphasized more on squad rotation to finish the season on a high note, with the Club World Cup also fast approaching. The Sundowns mentor stated that new signing Mothiba can still play before the end of the season, as he has shown good signs.

“I really hope so, because Mothiba is a quality player, high-quality player, that unfortunately comes from a long, long period of absence, of non-competition, of a big injury, and a big, long period of recovery,” Cardoso told the media.

“Since he joined us, he has had small setbacks, but small nothing to do with the injury he had, but just trying to get conditioned and these muscles responding. And so, it’s a player that we need to treat with like a crystal very carefully, but we are willing to do it a lot. He’s a wonderful person and human being, and we are happy to have him among us, but we need to give him all the conditions so that he can recover and help us in the future.

“But I still expect that he can play for us before the end of the championship. For you to understand this, this week he made, or yesterday, we, the players that were not with us, made the joint training session with the Diski team, and he played in two times 20 minutes. He played 50 minutes on the net match free without conditioning. So, let’s go 50 minutes free to play. So, the answers are being, and the stimuli are being gradually. Put it on him so that he can cope with them.

“We are patient. He’s patient. He’s also anxious. We are also anxious, but we know what we have to do, and we’re going to do it gradually so that he can join us in the future. “
