Carnell & Makhanya Suffer Blow In MLS

Philadelphia Union led by Bradley Carnell and his South African compatriot Olwethu Makhanya were this past weekend knocked out of the Major League Soccer playoffs.

After finishing top of the MLS this season, the Union was seen as one of the teams that could potentially win the MLS playoffs.

Carnell’s side eliminated Chicago Fire before facing New York City FC who then knocked them out in a single-leg semi-final with Maxi Moralez netting in the 27th minute which all but ended Carnell and Makhanya’s dream of winning the MLS.

Despite failing to win the MLS playoffs, this past season is seen as a success from Carnell’s team after a great season they had in the main MLS season finishing top of the table for the first time since 2022 and winning the Supporters Shield.

New York City FC take on Lionel Messi’s Inter Miami in the final after they thumped FC Cincinnati 4-0 with the Argentine captain scoring and providing a hat-trick of assists to walk away with the Man of the Match award.
