Kaizer Chiefs midfield maestro Thabo Cele is of the notion that this afternoon’s preseason friendly against FC Utrecht will offer a bit of a glimpse where they are in terms of their preparations ahead of next season.
Amakhosi succumbed to a narrow 2-1 defeat to Eerste Divisie outfit Vitesse Arnhem despite taking a first half lead through Reeve Frosler’s rocket from outside the box.
Cele has chosen not to focus too much on the disappointing result in the first match and insists their next clash will give them an idea on their improvements.
“That will be a very different test,” Cele said on the club’s website.
“Those games will show us where we are at present and where we want to go. Needless to say, this pre-season training will take us to the next level.”
Despite criticism from a section of the club’s fans, Cele says it will take time for players to gel and finally understand each other.
“The guys who played in the second half haven’t really played together as yet in that formation,” he added.
“But that’s good, that’s how you learn and that’s how you have to see pre-season friendlies as well.”
