Manqoba Ozoemena grabbed a brace as Kaizer Chiefs thumped Chippa United 5-1 while Orlando Pirates opened up a five-point lead at the top after beating Richards Bay 2-0 in Saturday’s DStv Diski Challenge ties.
Pirates had one thing in mind which was to get maximum points after suffering a defeat last weekend against their biggest rivals Chiefs. A few seconds before halftime whistle Seth Green put the Buccaneers in the lead to make it 1-0 giving Richards Bay a lot to think about in the second half.

Pirates doubled the lead deep in the second half to seal the three points and keep the gap at the top and putting Mamelodi Sundowns, Stellenbosch FC and Siwelele FC under pressure.
Following back-to-back victories for Amakhosi against Polokwane City and Pirates, they wanted to make it three wins in a row when they faced Chippa United. The Eastern Cape-based side didn’t make things easy for Amakhosi as they went into the halftime team talk sharing the spoils at 1-1, with on form Asanele Bonani scoring for Chili Boys.
Chiefs came back guns blazing in the second period by scoring four goals to make it 5-1, their biggest victory this season. Thulani Mabaso and a Manqoba Ozoemena brace as well as solitary strikes from Kamogelo Malefa and Naledi Hlongwane saw Amakhosi jump to third place though they are eight points behind Pirates.
