Chiefs Earn Late Draw Against Zamalek

Kaizer Chiefs earned a hard-fought 1-1 draw against Zamalek SC in their CAF Confederation Cup Group D clash at the New Peter Mokaba Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

Amakhosi fell behind just three minutes in as Seifeddine Jaziri capitalised on a mistake by Brandon Petersen from a corner to poke his effort into the bottom right corner and make it 1-0.

Gaston Sirino’s audacious 40-yard shot crashed against the woodwork with the Zamalek goalkeeper beaten. The Uruguayan was then hauled off with injury following Bradley Cross into the medical room.

The White Knights came close to doubling their lead at the resumption of the second period, but Chiefs had Inacio Miguel to thank for a goal-line clearance.

Petersen then rescued Chiefs with a well-timed save after his defence was caught on transition.

When the tie looked like it was gonna end in a defeat for the home side, Dillan Solomons scored deep in added time for a share of the spoils.
