Chiefs Out To Maintain Top Spot As DDC Heats Up

The DStv Diski Challenge is already heating up with Kaizer Chiefs, Mamelodi Sundowns, Stellenbosch, and Cape Town City all in the chasing packing, as matchday seven takes centre stage.

Sugar Ray Xulu Stadium is the place to be this weekend as the country’s next stars battle for the three points at stake.

Rejuvenated Stellenbosch FC will face Bernard Parker’s TS Galaxy. The defending champions are in third place with 11 points after six matches. Meanwhile, Galaxy is sitting eighth with seven points and are yet to suffer defeat this team.

The Saturday, it’s the battle of two struggling teams in Lamontville Golden Arrows and Orlando Pirates. Arrows are yet to win a match this season after losing four and drawing one. The Buccaneers are on nine points after six matches with head coach Joseph Makhanya already under pressure to deliver maximum points in this match to stay in touch with the chasing pack.

On Sunday, Cape Town City will look to bounce back to winning ways as they welcome Polokwane City at Malta Park Sports Complex. City welcomes their stars back from the national team in Jody Ah Shene, Shakeel April, Emile Witbooi, and Xhosa Manyana, who were with South Africa U20 for the COSAFA Cup.

Amakhosi will close the weekend when they face high-flying Richards Bay. The Natal Rich Boys won back-to-back matches for the first time this season and kept clean sheets in both matches. Chiefs aim to maintain their top spot with a win after they played a goalless draw against Stellies last weekend.
