Chiefs, Pirates & Downs – Khanye Predicts Upsets!

Former Kaizer Chiefs winger Junior Khanye believes both Soweto giants will lose their DStv Premiership games this weekend, while Mamelodi Sundowns will ease to a victory in the CAF Champions League.

It’s a big weekend as domestic football returns following the international break, with fourth-placed Cape Town City taking on seventh-placed Kaizer Chiefs – the winner of the game will keep their hopes of finishing second alive.

Meanwhile, second-placed Orlando Pirates travel to sixth-placed Sekhukhune United and Khanye, who will soon have his own reality tv show on Mzansi Magic called “Junior Khanye, fixing the game”, predicts defeats for both Soweto giants.

“Cape Town City is going to win, 2-0 or 2-1,” he told iDiski Times.

“The coach is unsettled, Cavin Johnson. I don’t think they believe in him, I think they’ve already decided against him.

“Cape Town City are coached by one of the best coaches in Eric Tinkler, I think he deserves to be rewarded in South Africa but he is underrated. He should get his flowers and be given a chance at a really big team.

“And I’m sure Mayo since being called to the national team he will want to prove a point and he’s surrounded by top class players.

“The coach understands his players as well.”

Khanye also believes that Babina Noko will continue their brilliant form in the league, having started with four wins into the new year.

“I think Sekhukhune is going to win, they are in good form,” he continued.

“They are coached by one of the coaches with a bright future, Lehlohonolo Seema. I always believe in him, he comes from Pitso Mosimane’s hands and he plays South African style football.

“They’ve been winning, three, four games and Pirates are inconsistent. But in two games they played wonderful football, in the derby against Chiefs and in Nedbank Cup.

“But their team is not consistent because of chopping and changing. So they are not going to win, Sekhukhune is going to win 1-0.

Last but not least, Khanye feels Sundowns are too strong for Young Africans in the CAF Champions League.

“Sundowns are on top of their game, many of their players have represented South Africa well, Mshishi is on top,” he added.

“Thought he hasn’t always played for Sundowns, he doesn’t have to prove anything, top class player. And the confidence is high from the national team, he did very well against Algeria.

“They hard to defeat, they are one of the best teams in Africa, on the continent. The coach understands his players, they are consistent, whoever they play does well.

“Young Africans are a good team, I’ve watched them once or twice, but someone is always better than you – Sundowns is going to win 2-0 or 2-1.”
