Kaizer Chiefs and Mamelodi Sundowns announced their starting line-ups for this afternoon’s MTN8 first-leg semifinal encounter at FNB Stadium.
Amakhosi are three matches away from ending a eight-year trophy drought but they will have to overcome nearly-unstoppable Sundowns in the two-legged semi-final. Molefe Ntseki’s side are coming to this game after back-to-back league wins, which saw them scoring five goals.
Pule Mmodi and speedy Ashley du Preez both have been instrumental for the side since the season started.
Meanwhile, Sundowns haven’t lost or drawn a game since the season started after seven matches, winning six league matches and one MTN8 clash against Swallows FC.
Brazilian national Lucas Ribeiro Cost has been the leading man for Downs, netting four goals this season and he is currently the league leading goalscorer.
Both sides were knocked out in the semis last season, Sundowns losing to Orlando Pirates 3-0 on aggregate, while Chiefs were knocked out on the away goal rule by AmaZulu.
They’ve already faced each other this season in the DStv Premiership and Sundowns collected maximum points in the capital city.
