City Lads Ladies recorded an emphatic 6-4 win over Durban Ladies while champions Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies scraped past University of Cape Town with a narrow 1-0 victory in this past weekend’s Hollywoodbets Super League encounters.
Lads were in rampant mood as they smashed six goals past the Ladies from Ethekwini with Ashley Booysen grabbing a brace while the other goals came from Andisiwe Ndesi, Kamvelihle Speelman, Shantel Ntimane and Sikelelwa Mhlanga.
Botswana international Refilwe Tholakele scored the only goal of the game to see Masandawana remain in pole position with 41 points in 17 matches as they are not set to be away on regional duty at the qualifiers in Johannesburg from 22-31 August looking to qualify for the CAFWCL finals later this year. Meanwhile, UCT are eight on the league log with 25 points from 19 games.
Second placed TUT Matsatsantsa Ladies dropped two points away at JVW as they drew 1-1 to see the gap at the top widen to six points while they have played two more matches than Sundowns. Bonolo Mokoma scored first for the Blue Diamonds but that was cancelled by Tshogofatso Motlogelwa as JVW remained in fourth place with 32 points in 16 matches.
Elsewhere, Leandra Smeda completed a brace to return to the top of the top goal scorer list with 10 goals with Busisiwe Ndimeni also scoring in as many games as TS Galaxy Queens won 3-1 away at Royal AM. The Rockets remained in third place with 34 points in 15 outings. Sizwe Sibiya’s charges have however narrowed the gap between themselves and TUT to just a point while Royal AM remained in 15th spot with 13 points in 20 matches.
