Bafana Bafana and Kaizer Chiefs legend Doctor Khumalo believes Relebohile Mofokeng’s withdrawal from the national team is a big blow – on and off the pitch.
Mofokeng was stretchered off after 62 minutes in his side’s Carling Knockout win over Siwelele and subsequently had to withdraw from the national team, with Mduduzi Shabalala replacing him.

Khumalo believes Mofokeng’s absence is a big blow for the crucial World Cup qualifiers against Zimbabwe and Rwanda.
“I think it’s a big blow for Bafana Bafana, we really needed him for these two games,” he said on Soccerzone.
“Because he’s one of the pillars in the national team. And also, he’s a social factor in the squad, because they’ve been camping together – there is that continuation off the field.
“But also, when he’s sitting on the bench, the one who’s playing in his position, feels that If I don’t perform, Rele is there to play.
“Above that, the coach has alluded to the fact that Mdu is the right choice, and we’ll go with that.”
Bafana, who have dropped into second place in Group C, take on Zimbabwe at Moses Mabhida Stadium on Friday before hosting Rwanda next week Tuesday.
