Durban City Move Top Of MFC Table After Late Win

Durban City moved top of the Motsepe Foundation Championship standings with a late winner while Cape Town Spurs dropped points for the third consecutive match.

City’s relocation to the Durban seems to be magical as new signing Ruzaigh Gamildien netted the only goal of the match at Chatsworth Stadium as they narrowly edged Baroka FC.

In a battle of the two struggling teams out in Limpopo, Venda FC needed veteran PSL campaigner Judas Moseamedi’s rescue from the bench as they beat Kruger United 1-0, to hand the Limpopo side their first three points of the season.

Meanwhile, the other Limpopo side Black Leopards were handed a 3-1 hammering at Giant Stadium by JDR Stars. Mwape Musonda opened the scoring for Lidoda Duvha but the lead was short-lived as Tshepo Mokhabi found the equaliser before last season’s MFC golden boot winner Prince Nxumalo scored the second goal for Stars. Banele Hlophe put the match to bed with the third to complete the comeback.

At Olympia Park Stadium in Rustenbrg, Milford FC were handed their first defeat of the season by Orbit College who scored three unanswered goals through Lethabo Modimoeng, Simphiwe Ndlovu and Gomolemo Khoto.

Cape Town Spurs welcomed high-flying Upington City to a windy Mother City. City took the lead inside 12 minutes through Bokang Mokwena. Mervin Boji equalized the Urban Warriors five minutes before halftime as the sides shared spoils.

AmaTuks battled Hungry Lions in Tshwane with the home side first to open the scoring in the 24th minute through Luke Daniels but Highbury equalized 12 minutes later as the match ended 1-1.

Leruma United picked up their second win on the trot beating an in-form Casric Stars 1-0.
