Ex-Pirates Coach Zinnbauer Lands New Job

Former Orlando Pirates head coach Josef Zinnbauer has landed a new job with Russian giants FC Lokomotiv Moscow.

The 52-year-old German resigned from Pirates just before the start of the 2021/22 season back in August citing the health of his son as a primary reason.

Zinnbauer, in an interview with iDiski Times back in April, he confirmed that after falling into a coma, his son has been recovering well, but slowly and that he was ready to return to the dugout.

He’s since been appointed by the three-time Russian Premier League champions as he officially returns to European football.

“We are glad to welcome Josef Zinnbauer to our team. As we planned, Lokomotiv is strengthening the coaching staff with a specialist with good experience in various championships,” the club statement read.

“When inviting Josef, we also took into account that he has serious experience in working with young people and shares the principles of the game that we want to see played by Lokomotiv.”

Lokomotiv finished sixth in the Russian top-flight last season.
