Former Downs Striker Off To Club World Cup

Former Mamelodi Sundowns forward Emiliano Tade shared his views ahead of the FIFA Club World that is set to take place in February in Morocco.

Tade played his football in South Africa with AmaZulu FC before moving to Sundowns. Things didn’t go well in Chloorkop as he had to jump the ship to move back to his country.

The Auckland City star has been phenomenal on their journey to the biggest club showpiece as he scored seven goals in eight games. The 34-year-old explained the importance and excitement ahead of the tournament.

“The Club World Cup has always been a very special tournament for us as a club and also important for Oceania,” Tade told Auckland City’s website.

“Playing against teams that are in other leagues from professional environments gives us a chance to compare ourselves to that level.

“In those tournaments, games are watched by millions of people so it’s very special. In the last 10-12 years Auckland City FC has been there many times and in 2014 we managed to get through a few stages and reached the last four and won third position.
