Hlongwane Future At MLS Side In Doubt?

Major League Soccer side Minnesota United are yet to exercise their option for Bafana Bafana striker Bongokuhle Hlongwane to stay at the club.

Hlongwane is in his last four months on the current contract for Minnesota, having joined the side in 2022 from Maritzburg United.

The 24-year-old has been instrumental for MNUFC since joining the side as he has made 96 appearances, netting 26 goals and collecting 14 assists across all competitions.

His performances didn’t go unnoticed, as he was reported to have attracted interest from Turkish giants Trabzonspor and Besiktas but no move materialised.

It is unlikely that Hlongwane will leave the club now as the MLS transfer window is closed, meaning it would be difficult for his side to get a replacement should.

The Bafana Bafana international has four months left in its contract, which is due to expire in December, but Minnesota United have the option to extend it. But as of now, it remains unclear if they will exercise it.
