Hlungwani Explains Penalty Decision Against Chiefs

Former PSL referee Victor Hlungwani has concluded that Kaizer Chiefs were correctly penalized for a spot kick against them in their defeat to Al Masry this past weekend.

Amakhosi succumbed to a late Al Masry winner to go down 2-1 in their opening Group D CAF Confederation Cup clash at the Suez Stadium on Sunday to see themselves in third spot.

The hosts were awarded a penalty kick in the 57th minute after Petersen was adjudged to have fouled the opposition striker which led to the referee pointing to the spot.

“Hamada there was tripped or holding by Petersen. Petersen made a holding offence there,” ‘The Principal’ said on Soccerzone.

“Now, correct decision by the referee to give a penalty against Petersen for holding.”

The Glamour Boys will be hoping for a better showing when they host another Egyptian side in Zamalek at the Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane on Saturday.
