Hlungwani On Why Foster’s Goal Stood Despite Offside Calls

Former FIFA referee Victor Hlungwani has argued that calls for Lyle Foster’s goal to have been flagged offside are incorrect.

The big Bafana Bafana number nine tapped in from close range to give South Africa a 2-0 cushion in the 63rd minute, but some sections of the Lesotho fans showed their displeasure after the game that the home side had been gifted what they deemed an offside goal.

‘The Principal’ however dissected the incident which clearly showed that Foster had been played onside by a Likuena player.

“Lyle Foster scored a goal. We can see that the ball rebounds from goalkeeper,” he said on Soccerzone.

“At the moment the ball is played, we’re going to show you that [Lehlogonolo] Matsau there put Foster in an onside position.”
