SuperSport United head coach Gavin Hunt has expressed frustration about Namibian striker Benson Shilongo not being available for his side yet.
The Spartans completed the signing of Shilongo on a free transfer after he had spent the last four years in Egypt with Ismaily. However, the club are still waiting for the striker’s clearance after he made an initial move to Maccabi Bnei Reineh in July before joining Matsatsantsa in September.
Hunt shared his thoughts on Shilongo after his side’s 3-1 win over Sekhukhune United, which was their fifth win in their last six DStv Premiership games.
“I don’t know maybe his ITC was lost in Athens, I don’t know. But we haven’t got his ITC, so it has been a bit of a problem because it’s been 10 days now,” Hunt told SuperSport TV.
“We should have been getting those things, in modern-day football, these things should be done overnight. Because we are short up front, we are short.”
The Spartans completed the signing of Shilongo on a free transfer. The 30-year-old is not new to South African football as he previously played for Platinum Stars between 2016 and 2018.
Hunt’s side will face stubborn Stellenbosch FC in their next encounter in Cape Town, before welcoming Marumo Gallants in the last game before going to the FIFA World Cup break.
