Kaizer Chiefs co-coach Cedric Kaze is hoping their win will get them out of what has been a difficult slump over the last couple of weeks.
Amakhosi narrowly beat Durban City 1-0 at FNB Stadium on Sunday afternoon to complete a league double over the KwaZulu-Natal side and move into fifth place.
Glody Lilepo got the all-important goal in the 69th minute as Chiefs finally picked up a win after losing four matches on the trot across all competitions.
The Naturena-based outfit bowed out of the CAF Confederation Cup narrowly going down 2-1 to Zamalek SC. Their next defeat was against Stellenbosch FC with the same scoreline.
Matters got worse when they were walloped 3-0 in the Soweto Derby by Orlando Pirates.
Chiefs then went away to Richards Bay and lost 1-0 before bouncing back this afternoon.
Speaking to SuperSport TV in his post-match interview, Kaze was adamant that they deserved maximum points on the afternoon which he hopes will carry their momentum going forward.
“It’s a game that we controlled well since the first minute. This is three points we plainly deserved,” he said.
“It’s gonna give everyone confidence, it’s gonna give everyone serenity to work and to have a good performance in our next game.
“The supporters have always been there for the team and everyone has to know that every team goes through a rough patch.
“We went through it and we hope we are getting out of it and from this performance, we can only improve.”
