Kaizer Chiefs DStv Diski Challenge head coach Vela Khumalo has said that the ten players at national camps will be missed in Sunday’s Soweto derby against Orlando Pirates at DR Petrus Molemela Stadium.
Bloemfontein is set to host the biggest fixture in the DDC this afternoon when two Soweto giants lock horns at Dr Petrus Molemela Stadium. Amakhosi are in good form having won their last four matches and currently sitting top of the league table with eight games remaining.
South Africa’s junior international teams called up players for the U17 and U20 AFCON camps and Chiefs have been affected heavily with 10 players named in the preliminary squad that will be in the camp including their two talismans Neo Bohloko and Naledi Hlongwane.

In conversation with iDiski Times, Khumalo explained that they cannot run away from the fact that this is a big game and it is a derby, but his concern is that 10 of his players won’t be available for selection but on the other hand, it is a good thing because it shows they doing good work as a club.
“I agree with you however they are all big in my eyes. This season we actually wanted to win all the big games and treat them the same. This one is not an exception but anyway, we cannot move away from saying it’s a derby,” Khumalo told iDiski Times.
“My biggest challenge and worry is those U17 and U20 are in camp, so 10 of my players are not available that on its own is a bit of a challenge, but we will soldier on with what we have.”
