Klopp Lands New Job After Liverpool Exit

Former Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has landed himself a new job after signing a ‘long-term’ contract to become the ‘Global Head of Soccer’ at Red Bull.

Klopp left Liverpool in May 2024, ending his nine-year spell with the Merseyside club having led them to UEFA Champions League and Premier League titles.

The 57-year-old German mentor announced in May that he would finally leave Liverpool citing exhaustion as one of his reasons, further adding that he would not be taking up any coaching role in order to get much-needed rest.

It has since been confirmed that Klopp will take charge as Global Head of Soccer’ at Red Bull, which means overseeing the international network of all football clubs at Red Bull – including Leipzig, Salzburg and the New York Red Bulls.

The former Borussia Dortmund coach spoke of his excitement at the prospect of taking over a multi-club project in a strategic role.

“After almost 25 years on the sideline, I could not be more excited to get involved in a project like this,” Klopp told the Red Bull website.

“The role may have changed but my passion for football and the people who make the game what it is has not.

“By joining Red Bull at a global level, I want to develop, improve and support the incredible football talent that we have at our disposal. There are many ways that we can do this from using the elite knowledge and experience that Red Bull possesses to learning from other sports and other industries.

“Together we can discover what is possible. I see my role primarily as a mentor for the coaches and management of the Red Bull clubs but ultimately, I am one part of an organisation that is unique, innovative and forward looking. As I said, this could not excite me more,” he added.

He has also been earmarked as a potential successor to Julian Nagelsmann as Germany’s national team coach with the former’s contract running until the end of the 2026 World Cup.
