Baroka FC defender Tebogo Langerman has revealed that club chairman Khurishi Mphahlele is the reason he returned to playing in the professional ranks at the age of 39.
Langerman last played in the professional set-ups three years ago when he was with the now defunct Moroka Swallows after enjoying a successful time with Mamelodi Sundowns. Last season, he was player-coach at Sunrise FC in ABC Motsepe League in Lephalale, Limpopo.

The former South African international spoke to IDiski Times journalist Lethabo Kganyago in edition 225 of the newspaper, where he revealed he has been approached by Bakgaga before but did not accept the offer as he had set his sights on other things in Gauteng.
“It’s the chairman,” Langerman told iDiski Times.
“He approached me in Lephalale because he was very impressed with how I played and how the team I coached played. He was really impressed, and he signed two players from my team, and he approached me.
“I said to him no because I wanted to retire because I have been playing for a long time. So, at first, I didn’t accept the offer. I also thought he wasn’t that serious, and I had my own plans of returning to Jo’burg to focus on my coaching and other things like getting into analysing matches on TV.”
Langerman continued to say that Mphahlele’s approach was key in him making up his mind in joining the Motsepe Foundation Championship side the second time he was approached.
“I think after a month of being in Jo’burg from Lephalale the chairman called and I thought, ‘That man, again’ (chuckles),” added the former CAF Champions League winner.
“He said, ‘May you please come and play for my team?’ For that fact that he actually asked, I thought this man must really need me, and he must be seeing something in me that I’m not seeing. I had really thought I was done with Limpopo.”
