Kaizer Chiefs‘ latest signing Rushwin Dortley has thanked the Cape Town Spurs family ahead of his highly-anticipated move to Naturena.
The 22-year-old versatile defender, who has emerged as one of the most sought-after talents in the country, was snapped up by Amakhosi on a five-year deal last week.
The Glamour Boys have been sweating it up in Türkiye as part of their pre-season plans ahead of the 2024/25 campaign, and Dortley, who will join up with his new employers when they take on Yanga SC in the inaugural Toyota Cup, bid farewell to the fans of the Urban Warriors at Ikamva.
“Firstly, I want to say thank you to the owners for giving me the opportunity seven years ago and it has been a good seven years,” said the Chiefs-bound Dortley.
“I wanna thank all the junior coaches whose been part of my development. I also wanna say thank you to the coach [Ernst Middendorp] for pushing me and believing that I can do better.
“Even though I got frustrated sometime but I always understood the reason why.
“And I just wanna say thank you to my teammates. Those who is not here anymore. The ones all here.
“Thank you for pushing me and always being there, not always as a teammate, but as a brother as well.
“Just wanna say thank you to everyone and thank you to the club.”
Amakhosi recorded an emphatic 5-2 victory in their pre-season tie against Qatari Stars League side Al Shahaniya SC.
