Links Scores 1st Leg QF Winner v Brondby

AGF Aarhus winger Gift Links scored a crucial late winning goal against Brondby FC in the Oddset Cup quarterfinal first-leg.

Links continued with his hot form last night when AGF narrowly beat Brondby1-0, scoring in the 76th minute to put them at the advantage going into the second leg.

Last season, they went as far as reaching the final but lost to Silkeborg by a solitary goal.

The South African is having one of his best seasons with the Danish side as he is currently sitting on a seven-goal contribution this season.

The second leg will be played in six days’ time at Brondby, a place where AGF has done well in the past winning on their last two visits.

After the match, Links express their excitement in the cup competition but that more work lies ahead of the second leg on Sunday.

“Cup matches are always special for us, and we work hard for a result today,” Links told the club’s website.

“Big congratulations to my teammates who did really well today. But now a second half still awaits us – 90 more minutes in Brøndby. Now we have done the first part. Then we have to go to Brøndby on Sunday and continue and give everything as we always do.

“The fans know that too, who gave a terrific support today. The game is not over, and we have another one on Sunday and we hope to see them again, said Gift after the game.”

The dream to win a trophy double continues as they sit fourth in the Danish Superliga with 28 points after 17 matches.
